new possiblities

I was never really interested in the field of development.
I took only one course that had anything to do with development during my four years in college.
Even if I were to say I had a bit of interest in the field, I was interested in very narrow questions: how trade fosters economic developement, or the possibility of hybridization of fair trade + free trade.

After being pushed around into doing three-_- interviews,
I ended up working in a place I never even imagined,
with people who work every day and every hour on things I felt that were distant -- things I read on UN Resolutions.

Now I see new possibilities, a new passion, another reason to live.

I can be a 'consultant' (in not-so-shining armor, but still!)
AND help developing countries at the same time.

A consultant, not for profit-maximizing corporations but for communities and nations.
A consultant, not for money but for a better world.

This is something my country can do well and needs to do.

Maybe I can contribute to this world in ways I couldn't even imagine before.

(And maybe I should have spent more time studying economics while in college-_-. Oh well, hind sight is always 20/20.)
