Where Pianos Go To Die (NYT article)

Wow. This is really sad. There definitely needs to be a better market for used pianos...

You can find FREE pianos up for adoption on this website.

Many of them have need a new home by the end of the month,
or else they will end up in a landfill, like this: http://youtu.be/J-ERkoBFQVM

Or like this: http://nyti.ms/QHIEQQ

Here's a slideshow of photographs from a place where they tear apart pianos before they are thrown in the dump. http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/07/29/arts/music/077292012PIANOS-3.html

The NYT article says that most pianos have an 80-year lifespan. So even if the piano is more than 30 years old, it can probably be put back into good condition with just a small amount of money.

So if you need/want a piano in your home, please consider adopting a used one!
