12/28/2009
일어나기 전에 꿈을 꿨는데.. one of those dreams that are so real & vivid that you can remember the smell, touch, air temperture, etc. as if it's something that really happened..
하지만 firm and warm.
4. 꿈속에서 본 그사람이 inspired from K 라고 생각했는데, 만일 그 꿈이 예지몽이었다면 my memory must have failed me.

A Day of Stefan Jackiw!
Thank you so much한마디밖에 못하겠더라고ㅠㅠ 연주회가 끝났을 때, 너는 무슨 얘기를 듣고 싶어할까? 듣는 입장의 나에게는 it's as much his CD as it is yours...

3rd Day in Macau (Last day of tournament)
Round 5 - got 2nd place for the first time in the tournament.
Unexpectedly broke!!! (6th team to break)
but failed to make it to grand finals.
was happy/안타까워 for the Wenzao team, cuz they had they could have broke if they had higher speaker scores.
I keep thinking we could have gone to Finals if we were on CG instead of OG for the Semis.. cus honestly I think we did better than the CG! so i guess the judges liked their extension.. :P
Jeff left his bag (he put his passport in there!) in the bus last night when we were going to the Venetian, and we were so worried because the driver lived in the mainland and the bus company couldn't get in touch with him! But luckily enough he got his bag back in the afternoon.
The tourney and ceremony finished before 6pm (again, ahead of schedule), so a bunch of ppl (including Loke, TJ, the Thai girls, some Chinese ppl) decided to go to the eggtart place across the hotel. This was a bad idea cuz H got really sick and Sing and I really didn't feel like having dinner, when the dinner was an okay hotel buffet!
After dinner and taking lots of photos with mostly everyone except for TJ who mysteriously disappeared...
went to the bar strip with Fangs, Alexx, Sing, Reuben, Ryotaro, Kazuya, Andrew, A, H, Peter, E, and Jeff. Started playing drinking games but soon got boring cuz we were sitting in an elongated circe and we couldn't hear each other, not to mention that people just weren't drunk enough.-_- So the Japanese guys left, and H, E, Peter, and I tagged along.
Heard the rest of the guys went to MGM to try the slots, came back to the hotel to party at A's room but ended up sleeping -_- kekeke
took E and H to the Grand Emperor to look at the gold bars
and then tried my luck at the Lisboa - earned 14 HKD at the slots!!
thus the end of the 1st Macau Ivitational Tournament.

2nd Day in Macau
magically woke up (well, the hotel gave us a wake-up call AND my five alarms on my cell phone woke H up, who in turn woke me up) in time for breakfast,
took bus to IFT.
crisp and a bit nervous, but in a good way.
Round 1: 3rd place (totally unexpected.. thought we would take 1st place)
Round 2: 1st place (only because we were CO)
Round 3: 3rd place again!
Round 4: 3rd place again... dayum, we might not be able to break.....T^T
as this was a small tournament, and extreme Js like Loke were running this tournament, we finished slightly ahead of schedule!!
Went to Dumbo (small flying elephant!) restaurant for dinner (shrimp and chicken curry was really good!),
the bus conveniently took us to the Venetian! which was really nice because we'd been meaning to go there but thought we might not have the time..
went around looking at the humongous hotel & casino, found our way to the Canal Malls, did some window shopping (I think I was the only one who actually bought stuff- unexpected Naraya shop! 득템ed gifts for friends and myself, hehehe. Oh and A bought sth at the Man U store, too)
came back to the hotel around 11:30pm but E and H wanted to see the Grand Emperor, so took them there and then hit the slots at the Lisboa! Think everyone made the most money there for some reason...
came back to hotel,
H went to sleep but I crept out with A to get a massage at the Kingsway Hotel, which is now the Lan Kwai Fong. And oh lemme tell ya we loved that place. The interior design of the whole hotel was pretty nice, and so was the massage/beauty parlor. The masseuses were pretty good too. Loved the lemongrass oil they used. Will definitely go there again if come back to Macau.

1st Day in Macau
woke up just in time to make it for the half-day tour
lunch at the rotating restaurant at the Macau Tower
went to Senado Square, St. Paul's Church (remains), St. Dominic's Church, Sasa (!), etc.
high tea (which was pretty much dinner) at some hotel
- actually enjoyed the food there more than the buffet at lunch
went to IFT (which we later realized was a school!) to watch mock debate
went back to hotel, unpacked,
went out to Senado Square for milk pudding and papaya+coconut juice! with H, and went to Watsons originally to buy stockings, but the ones there were too pricey and ugly, so we only bought gum and mints there,
came back to hotel, H was too tired so she fell asleep,
met up with A to go looking for a massage shop but failed, instead found a tiny dingy little dimsum place on the backstreets of Senado Square and took some to the hotel. ate those and dragonfruit at A's room, and went to sleep.

Leaving for Macau
sent my part of the EAE paper to my groupmate at around 1:20 pm (my flight is at 3:15pm and it takes 90+ minutes to get from my house to the airport)
failed at finishing the Research Methods paper
just missed the airport limo, had to wait until 2:05pm to ride the next one
in the meanwhile, my teammate called to let me know that luckily, she was at the airport and was able to change our flight to the next one (leaving at 7:40pm) at no extra charge
finally got to the airport at around 3:35 pm.
met up with my teammate and had K.Onion burgers at Kraze (mission accomplished!)
went through immigrations, sat around the waiting area, wrote a couple pages for my RM paper, but realized there wouldn't be any way that I can finish it by Friday 11am, so called the prof and *magically* she was still in her office (it was about 5:55pm) and she said it's okay to turn in the paper until Wednesday as long as I send her the official documents.
Suddenly very relieved, turned computer off and rested for a little bit, then boarded plane.
They were showing Public Enemies, 500 Days of Summer, The Time Traveller's Wife, and other stuff on the plane - really wanted to watch 500 Days but somehow the channels showing that one weren't working.. so watched Time Traveller's Wife instead.. pretty corny, as expected.
Landed in HKG around 12:20am, so the ferries from the airport weren't available.. so took a bus to Sheng Wan and took a ferry from there to Macau. (Thanks to H who researched beforehand how to get to that ferry pier!)
Arrived in Macau Ferry Pier around 2:10am, had to go through immigration AGAIN (which got pretty annoying by then - this is why you should definitely use the air-sea trasfer system!). Took a taxi to the hotel, checked in, met up with Ahyoung, took a walk around...
Came back exhausted (past 5am) and fell asleep.

Going to Macao (Macau?)!
Okay so I'm finally going to Macao after all that scurrying about - what with "you can't come as a composite team" and then "you can come but you can't break" and then having to find someone who could go and then finding out that NC wasn't gonna go even as a judge, all the shit we had to go through to book tickets (finalized the tickets 30 minutes before the deadline for payment, which was this afternoon!).
I will be leaving straight from school right after class in the morning.
Which means I have to do all of the following things in the next 10 hours:
1) Pack: need to choose what to wear for four days.
2) Finish writing my Research Methods paper (which is... about half done)
3) Email the paper to prof, with an explanation of why I'm handing it in early
4) Finish writing my EAE paper (which I haven't even started yet, although I have a stack of references sitting around on my desk)
5) email the paper to my groupmate, so she can look over it before handing it in on Friday
6) Finish
7) Finish grading tests
I have so much work in my hands I don't know where to start or what order to do them in and this is making me nearly schezophrenic.
And I know that it will be impossble to finish doing all of these AND make it to class on time tomorrow morning. (Which is really bad, because I've been late for Thursday classes quite a few times.)
I'm just hoping I won't fall asleep before I finish all of them.
I'm going to Macau tomorrow and I don't even know what their currency is called or what the exchange rate is like.
Okay I just looked it up and it's called the Macau Pataca, and the XR is 1MOP=145.571 KRW.
XR for HKD is 1 HKD= 149.938 KRW.
So I should be expecting about 150 won per MOP or HKD.
And then there is the fear that I won't even break and be so smooshed at the tiny 16-team tournament. I haven't been debating for nearly two years now so I know I won't even stand a chance of making it to the final round. But I really really hope that somehow, miraculously, that we can at least break. Even if we're the last breaking team.
And I know I won't be able to give my 100% during the tournament because I will be worrying about the two papers I have to write the moment I come back home.
But I also know Ican't do anything about that until I actually come home, so I'll try to be chill about that and focus on having a good time in Macau.
(big sigh)
Okay back to work now!!!
No sidetracking tonight!!!

Finished watching Skins Seasons 1 and 2!

took a sneak peek at Season 3 and it's a whole new cast, whole new story. But looks like Effie's still in it, as the main character this time around.
But it just won't be as good as the first two seasons with the original cast!
Loved every actor/actress and every character to bits.
The eight main characters - Tony, Michelle, Sid, Cassie, Anwar, Maxie, Chris, Jal
and all the supporting characters - their mums and dads, teachers at the college (Angie, the principal, Tom, the music teacher, etc.)...
Still shocks me that this was shown on TV (there is not a single episode that does not involve, sex, drugs, and alcohol)..
I'm not entirely sure why, but I am still so so so fond of works that involve highschool/college drama.. Stuff like Honey and Clover, High School Musical, Ten Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Bring It On, Cry-baby, and the like.
Maybe it's because they show the high school life that I never had, a fantasy-world that exists only in my imagination.
Maybe it's because I hated high school so much that I didn't live in the reality that I was given for most of those three years. (Not to deny that there were some nice bits of high school, like winning the foreign language drama contest, or helping with the Christian fellowship club.. Any my math 학원 where I never studied math but talked about life with my teacher.. And it was all great after I got accepted into university and I got to get out of school in the afternoons to earn money for the first time in my life, get driver's ed, learn Chinese, meet new people, etc.)
Maybe it's because those films show kids making 'real' relationships, which is something I both deliberately avoided and was also incapable of doing during my high school years.
The teenage romances that I never experienced, the 'delinquencies' that I never allowed myself to walk into, the twisted friendships that sort themselves out in the end... All these things were nonexistent in my high school life and I wonder if I am an anomaly??? Am I the only person who had a totally different highschool experience from what is shown in those films?
Or is it because many people can sympathize with me that they make those make-believe realities in those shows? Do they show what people want their highschool lives to have been like?
neway the bottom line is that I love 청춘예찬 stories and Skins did a very good job at it, taking '막장 드라마'to a totally new level (in ways which would never be tolerated or even imagined in Korea..!).
I will so dearly miss the cast from Seasons 1 and 2!
