My mother says that I am incapable of love and that I have rejected her (overflowing, sacrificial) love and that I cause her great pain. Basically, that I am the bane of her existence. She has been saying various versions of this to me for the last 20 years. And why does she always have to say these things in the middle of the night, making everything feel like torture and punishment?
