took a sneak peek at Season 3 and it's a whole new cast, whole new story. But looks like Effie's still in it, as the main character this time around.
But it just won't be as good as the first two seasons with the original cast!
Loved every actor/actress and every character to bits.
The eight main characters - Tony, Michelle, Sid, Cassie, Anwar, Maxie, Chris, Jal
and all the supporting characters - their mums and dads, teachers at the college (Angie, the principal, Tom, the music teacher, etc.)...
Still shocks me that this was shown on TV (there is not a single episode that does not involve, sex, drugs, and alcohol)..
I'm not entirely sure why, but I am still so so so fond of works that involve highschool/college drama.. Stuff like Honey and Clover, High School Musical, Ten Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Bring It On, Cry-baby, and the like.
Maybe it's because they show the high school life that I never had, a fantasy-world that exists only in my imagination.
Maybe it's because I hated high school so much that I didn't live in the reality that I was given for most of those three years. (Not to deny that there were some nice bits of high school, like winning the foreign language drama contest, or helping with the Christian fellowship club.. Any my math 학원 where I never studied math but talked about life with my teacher.. And it was all great after I got accepted into university and I got to get out of school in the afternoons to earn money for the first time in my life, get driver's ed, learn Chinese, meet new people, etc.)
Maybe it's because those films show kids making 'real' relationships, which is something I both deliberately avoided and was also incapable of doing during my high school years.
The teenage romances that I never experienced, the 'delinquencies' that I never allowed myself to walk into, the twisted friendships that sort themselves out in the end... All these things were nonexistent in my high school life and I wonder if I am an anomaly??? Am I the only person who had a totally different highschool experience from what is shown in those films?
Or is it because many people can sympathize with me that they make those make-believe realities in those shows? Do they show what people want their highschool lives to have been like?
neway the bottom line is that I love 청춘예찬 stories and Skins did a very good job at it, taking '막장 드라마'to a totally new level (in ways which would never be tolerated or even imagined in Korea..!).
I will so dearly miss the cast from Seasons 1 and 2!
